Our lovely lady dog, Daytona, is back with us, after being adopted through DAWG five years ago!  We were greatly dismayed that her adopters no longer wished to include her in their lives now that they have children and travel. We didn't see that coming when we selected them and trusted them to take care of her for her whole life.

Daytona is a perfect dog!  Her manners are wonderful, and she is gentle and funny, like a typical Doberman. Daytona could have 1% of another breed in her, but Daytona is as "Dobie" as you can get! That's a compliment, as Dobermans are known for being focused and a whole lot more. Plus we saw Daytona do a few "dancy, prancy" steps in the vet's lobby, so we think she is going to be "one of those" who can pirouette and do little playbows on command. Daytona's a fun dog!  But for now, she is still trying to figure out where she is and what happened to her.

The adopters didn't mention to us that Daytona has Addison's Disease, which is an adrenal gland malfunction traditionally managed by a monthly shot and one common medication. We know that will deter most people from applying for Daytona, but we are hoping that a "perceptive someone" will look past Daytona's medical situation. DAWG will cover medical expenses related to her condition, if necessary, so that someone who doesn't have the means to care for Daytona will still have the opportunity to invite her into his/her life. It's the least we can do for this very special, incredible dog.
